Requirements
Language:
basic Spanish required.
Age:
18-30 (negotiable).
Health:
Must be in good general health and have all appropriate inoculations (including yellow fever, tetanus, etc). See a tropical medicine clinic for details. Ability to adapt to jungle environment is essential.
Educational Focus:
Biology, Ornithology, Eco-studies, Forestry, Socio/Anthropology, Botany, and other related subjects. You can suggest a relevant project.
Length of Program:
One to three months.
General Description:
living in the cloud forest area in the Manu National Park region. Working with the local staff and communities doing research; reforestation projects, alternative crop projects, economic development projects, alternative energy sources, etc.
Accommodations:
comfortable Paradise Lodge (
www.manuparadiselodge.com) and local home stays.
Volunteer Program Cost:
US $30 per day. This money goes directly to support the ongoing projects. Also, volunteers will contribute 20 hours per week on projects at the Lodge.
Includes:
food and accommodation at Paradise Lodge but does not include transportation to Cusco (starting point of the program), guided tours, National Park entrance fees nor insurance.
